Whether your walk finds you along the pebbled shore or in town in search of great coffee, grab this snood on the way to keep your ears warm, then tuck it down for a fashionable cowl indoors.

About the Yarn:

Approximately 382 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Uist Wool Astair
50% Cheviot Wool, 50% Alpaca
191 yds per 50 g / 2 skeins used in color Coire

For this pattern, Andrea chose a lightweight, lofty spun yarn with a grabby texture, but it’s possible to make this pattern in any number of your favorite fingering weight or even laceweight yarns for an airy, frothy cowl.

Red Sandalwood (not the scented kind) produces a bright orange-red dye bath that I was hoping would yield colors just as strong! I saved the paste in case I need to use it again later, but the results were surprising--check them out on our Season of
Rainbow of naturally dyed color from trees on cotton and linen--yes please! I'm amazed at the range of color achieved by these little experiments and can't wait to dive in deeper and prep some fabric for quilting this fall.⁠
